FALL/WINTER 2024
Silk Springs offers probono stays for groups whose work support a world where all are welcome.
Our offering is a sanctuary to rest, recharge, and be inspired to continue your work in the world.
ETHOS | The theme is intentionally abstract to allow room for interpretation from candidates of various backgrounds. Generally, we are looking for ethos-aligned groups and individuals who break through barriers, act in unison with the greater good, and cross divides, whether political, physical, racial, financial, or others.
WHO | Eligible candidates can have diverse designations—artists, entrepreneurs, activists, healers, and more. Referrals from previous Silks residents and friends are preferred, but not required.
DETAILS | The stay at Silks is free of charge and must fall over weekdays. All we ask is that you cover the cleaning fee that goes directly to our cleaning team.
BACKGROUND | Silks was built as a blend of Eastern and Wild West cultures, incorporating Eastern philosophies in its design and wellness amenities—from our Buddhist octagon dome to healing bathing rituals—within the free-spirited Mojave Desert, a fusion of cultures not often seen side-by-side.
Our story is preceded by other resilient and contrasting forces of centuries ago when Native tribes lived across the land, later dispersed by Western prospectors in search of gold and silver fortunes among the ancient geological caverns of Joshua Tree. Their mining settlements are now the local communities around Joshua Tree National Park, one of the top 10 most-visited national parks in America, where nearly half of the annual visitors are of Asian heritage. Hence our ethos, a place in pursuit of a world where all are welcome.

Requirements
Maximum 8-person capacity
Weekdays only (until February 28, 2025)
Non-ticketed stays only
You may not sell tickets, beds, workshops, or otherwise profit from the property as an event venue. This is a local law and will be strictly enforced. It’s also bad karma.
Examples of allowable stays: internal leadership retreat, artists’ retreat, mental health getaway, etc.

Two (2) references (preference given for referrals from previous Silks guests)

What is your selection process?
Submissions will be selected based on relevance to the ethos and our ability to accommodate the desired dates, as well as the rest of the submission details.
When should I submit?
The next deadline is October 14, 2024 for stays in late October 2024 through February 2025.
Who can apply?
Any individual or group working to create a world where all are welcome: artists, entrepreneurs, working moms, healers, and countless more. Referrals from previous Silks guests and residents will be given preference, but not required.
Who should not apply?
Any event where you would profit from access to the property (i.e. selling tickets or classes) is a ticketed booking and not allowed.
How long is the stay?
Residency stays are probono for up to 4 nights and excluding weekends. If you’d like to extend your stay into a weekend (Friday-Saturday nights), you would be responsible for those nights’ charges. Please note this in advance in the submission.
How many candidates will be selected?
Depending on date availability, we will select 1-2 participants for this season.
